Bonjourcris,

-
This might be my yearly personal project, my foodie momento,
being a cantonese, a local Hong-Kongese, never should I miss out our traditionally awesome foodiesss in HK.
By the end of 2013, I have been going around Hong Kong with my friends, trying out many many cha chan tengs, enjoying their signature gourmets.
Inspired by nothing, just simply local-holics of cha chan teng foods, we have been super excited in every  Monday mornings, going on our cha chan teng breakfast tour! As well as some other lunch and dinners!

-

I'm not a food expert, but for sure I am a food lover, most importantly to mee, I enjoy every bit of life with friends, going around playing around, discovering many good food spots and share with everybody!
This blog entry would probably be y another favourite one, filled with joyful moments and sweet memories!

-

First to make great credits to my honourable guests, being together and trying out new and delish food.

October, 2013

Station ONE
The Match Box
喜喜冰室
G/F, Sun Wui Road, Causeway Bay

A fusion style cha chan teng with many special gourmets, and the shop is nicely deco in traditional Canto-style with colourful interior designs, specially love their wall deco, as well as their food! Beautiful and delishhh :D
We can also try out lots of fusion desserts here, lots of toasties and pancakes! nomnomnom..

Love the banana pancakes and the apple pie most! Just feel like everybody get jealous on my beautiful banana pancakes, ordering it by a-la-carte, a soft serve will be topped! The pancakes are thick and with strong egg savour, matching with bananas and ice cream, definitely a great dessert! And for my other favourite one the apple pie, it is stuffed with lots of sweet apple cubes, tasting it with the steamed milk on the plate, the pie is even more tastier!

What I have order:
Banana Pancakes with Vanilla Soft Serve 香蕉克戟伴雪糕
Ham and Pineapple Pancakes in Honey Sauce 菠蘿火腿蜜糖燒汁克戟
Apple Pie with Vanilla Soft Serve 蘋果批伴雪糕
Tomato Sauce Fried Rice with Crispy Chicken Leg 脆皮雞腿西炒飯
Sesame and Condensed Milk Toast 黑白多士

But I think that their portion is a lil too large for me, definitely needs to share with others to try out more their gourmets in one time!

Station TWO
Lung Fung Cafe
龍鳯冰室
G/F, 6A Wun Sha Street, Tai Hang

A popular cha chan teng opened by a Hong Kong actor, this is my first time coming over to try out their food. The food plating are attractive and the people here are nice as well! I love their french toast most, so thick and eggy! Their scramble eggs are nice too, like I am a big lover of scramble eggs, their juicy and smooth scramble eggs definitely attract me more than the chicken wings!

What I have order:
Lung Fung All-day Set (Swiss Chicken wings with Spaghetti in soup, Ham and Scrambled eggs with Buttered Toast) 龍鳳特餐
Black Caviar with Thick Luncheon Meat and Scramble Eggs Rice 黑魚子厚切餐肉炒蛋飯
French Toast 法蘭西多士

Station THREE
Australian Dairy Company
澳洲牛奶公司
G/F, Parkes Street, Jordan

This starts off our cha chan teng breakfast tour! Credits to Rss, we are having great breakfast at the most popular food spot in Hong Kong. No matter how long the queue is, everyone could never miss out this hot spot in Hong Kong. We crave for their milky stir-fried eggs, though they are not as juicy as the other cha chan teng's, their rich milk scent in eggs definitely is a great highlight!

Like let's count how many eggs they use in a day, or even an hour! Such a busy restaurant starting from the early morning!

Breakfast Choice:
Buttered Toast, Stir-fried eggs, Ham Macaroni, Iced Milk Tea
牛油多士, 炒蛋, 火腿通粉, 凍奶茶少甜

Visiting Australian Dairy Co., I think it is a must trying their pure dairy product, fresh milk or milk pudding, which do you prefer?? This morning, we have chosen a milk pudding, certainly rich in milk flavour and scent!

Some dairy thing:
Steamed Egg White with milk
蛋白燉鮮奶

Station FOUR
Shang-hai Zhen Mei
上海真美豆漿大王
Shop G22, Metro City Plaza 3, Tseung Kwan O

Recommended by Rss, so let's jump a lil off from the Canto-food for awhile. Zhen Mei is a popular food spot among students of our school, healthy and cheap, for sure the food are delicious! Like there are a few soy bean product shops around my home as well, but I love this more, especially their sticky rice, nom nom... I wanna have one right now!

I love their sticky rice a lot, sticky rice stuffed with crispy youtiao (油條) and lots of dried meat floss, a bit crunchy and a bit chewy but not oily anyway, tastes great! Their signature soy bean products are nice as well, their tofu fa (豆腐花) are rich in soy bean flavour which they smell good as well, serving with the brown sugar, moderately matched!

What I have ordered:
Fried Dumplings 煎餃子
Sticky Rice Roll 餈飯
Hot Soy Bean Milk 熱豆漿
Hot Tofu Fa 熱豆腐花

Station FIVE
Wing Sing Cafe
永勝茶餐廳
G/F, 95 Baker Street, Hung Hom

Crystal is a french toast lover! yessss I am :D
Talking about french toast here is my favourite shop for that, this cha chan teng is not a popular or famous one, just a typical district cha chan teng, they don't even get a page on open rice, but I highly recommend their FRENCH TOAST, 'cause I love it and you can try out different combination with it!

Unlike ordinary Canto-cafe, we usually have french toast with peanut butter, syrup or condensed milk; though this is also my favourite combination of french toast. Here, we could try out different fillings of the toast. Whenever think of having a thick french toast, I must come here for it, seeeee how thick their toasts are and they are pretty eggy but not oily at all! For other toasts, not forgetting to voice out your preference of having thick toasts, you will find that much tastier than the ordinary one!

Thick French Toast 變心厚西多士
served with one filling
Salty options - Ham/ Cheese/ Luncheon Meat/ Tuna
Sweet options - Peanut butter/ Jam/ Pineapples/ Mixed Fruits/ Red Bean

Btw, their omelettes are nice too! The eggs are fried right, with egg yolk coming out around your ingredients!
Show ya pics next time!

Station SIX
Grand Coffee Shop
豪華咖啡茶廳
226 Johnston Road, Wan Chai

A very old style Canto-cafe in Wan Chai, running our cha chan teng breakfast tour, this is time we can coming for the corn beef and egg sandwiches. There are not many people here in the morning, so we don't needa rush for food.

We have been a lil disappointed with their sandwiches, dunno if this is our mistakes or whatever, cus like we have forgotten to order our sandwiches in toast, so... yeaaa. We are a bit disappointed anyway. Knowing they are renowned for their corn beef and egg sandwiches from the others, we are coming for that; but then we think it's just fair or maybe not special as we expect. We have ordered a Kaya bread as well, their Kaya is just a lil too sweet indeed.

What I have ordered:
Kaya Sandwiches 㗎咉三文治
Corn Beef and Egg Sandwiches 鹹牛肉雞蛋三文治
Hot Milk Tea 熱奶茶

waittttt, how come there are two shops? lol Perhaps, I needa try both hahaaa

-

Station SEVEN
Ying Kee Restaurant
英記茶餐廳
2/F, Lockhart Road Market, Hennessy Road, Wan Chai

Because of the lil disappointment of station six, now we have found another cha chan teng satisfying our beautiful morning! Two breakfast set in the morning, that's not a problem to our stomach! Ng chur ng chur hing zone ge! Ying Kee is located at the market hawker centre, tasty french toast again, with a lovely auntie (waitress) serving us.

Like we are not sure what to have for our second breakfast, we asked the auntie what are their best food?
"Everything is the best, everything is tasty and good!"
"Why not trying out a full set, much cheaper much cheaper!"
"Our toast are great, eggs are great, need a drink? They are great too!"

French toast here is pretty nice though they are not my favourite thick eggy bread, instead they are slicey thin pan-fried bread. Maybe because of the sliced bread chosen, the french toast is richer in taste of the Kaya and condensed milk added. No wonder of its fame, delicious! And the stir-fried eggs are great too, smooth and juicy!

Additional choices:
Stir-fried Eggs 炒滑蛋
Kaya French Toast 㗎咉西多士

Just realise that we have eaten two Kaya toasts in one morning!

Station EIGHT
Fameux Cuisine
名廚
G/F, 13 Hung Hom Bay Centre, Hung Hom

An ordinary cha chan teng in Hung Hom, a Kai-Fong tea restaurant. Normally I will have dinner here for the Hong Kong style dinner, three dishes with soup and rice, a sweet soup for free as dessert. 'Cause like Im in my cha chan teng, today Im showing their breakfast here.

Their breakfast is in a lil fusion style, just a little compared to the others!

Just being a fusion breakfast with HK-style beef style and fried eggs, and western style ketchup beans and salad, maybe it's just simply for deco loll Their portion is good and appropriate, but the toast is just too crispy for me and I really really prefer thicker toasts!

What's our breakfast:
Breakfast Set B - Buttered Toast, Fried Eggs, Pan-fried Beef Steak with a drink
Breakfast Set D - Toast with Peanut Butter and Condensed Milk, with a drink

-

Stay tuned for my other breakfast cha chan teng stations!
There are a lot more coming up!!

Let's go ahead and try the above ones first!

Crystal
